PCIPA Dance Teams - Creative Exploration Classes

PCIPA Creative Exploration classes are designed for dancers who enjoy being part of the creative process where dance is used as a mode of expression allowing one to enrich their passion for dance and expand their creativity and skill, tapping into the possibilities of untouched and unexplored.
Creativity at the root of these classes, we teach our students dance movements and choreography that include the elements of Indian classical, folk and Bollywood dances along with elements from Jazz, hip hop, Latin, and other around the world dance forms. We further explore and expand beyond into possibilities unlimited while we dance just for the pure joy of dancing and to share an expression / a message / a story.
In short, Creative Explorations classes are our Modern Dance offerings!
Students are allowed and included in the process of creation (creation of body movements to choreography) as we create to move (dance), to explore, to express, to tell a story, to share a message, to understand the limitations of one’s own body so that they can break and expand, to understand the strengths of one’s own body so that they can nurture and grow stronger, to collaborate as a team, to support and honor each other’s (team members) unique contributions, and to become stronger in their roots and skills as they allow themselves to grow and feel empowered in their own unlimited potential.
Students are assisted, encouraged and supported as they learn, explore and expand in these classes.
While we focus on creating, learning and expanding, we allow and embrace right opportunities that show up to share what we create.
Sharing (Performance) opportunities may include and not limited to Charity and Community events, Competitions and PCIPA Flagship Productions.
Student enrollments for these classes will happen ONLY through Tryouts! Students will be placed into different classes based on skill level and age groups upon selection.

Enrollment Requirements/Options:
- Students with intermediate and advanced level of dance skills are encouraged to tryout.
- Students are required to be learning or learnt a foundation dance (Kuchipudi/Bharatnatyam/Odissi/Mohiniyattam) to be part of the PCIPA Dance Team.
- We believe foundation dance form develops core form, discipline, patience, sincerity, dedication, strength, and expression in a dancer. Every dance team member is expected to embrace these skills to build themselves as a strong dancer and a strong team member.
- If you do not have prior exposure to foundation dances but you are open to enrolling into one, then you can audition for the team and also setup time with the teacher to discuss your plans for including foundation dance as part of your enrollment.
- Students with beginner level skills are recommended to join our other PCIPA offered classes to expand their skills and try for this team as and when they become ready for the next level of expansion.
- Students with intermediate and advanced dance skills who enjoy pure Bollywood song and dance choreographies are encouraged to enroll for PCIPA offered Level 2 classes. These students can also be part of Creative Exploration classes if they get selected.

Journey So Far:
In 2013, the first PCIPA Dance Team known as Rockstar team took birth with just 8 tiny dancers and growing up to 14 dancers and noteworthy accomplishments by 2015. PCIPA further grew with multiple dance teams (Junior Star | Rockstar | Superstar) by 2016 and became National Winners by 2018.
PCIPA teams have been recognized for their outstanding and inspiring performances and for their talent, precision, dedication, and professional approach & attitude. The growing teams have continued to inspire, leading the path to the now evolved and offered Creative Exploration class.

1) PCIPA Rockstar Team won the National Dance Competition (Category: Age 13 and Below) at McDonald's Dance USA Dance presented by @5678mediagroup in association with #zeeamericas. - (July 2018)
Congratulations to the wonderful PCIPA Rockstar Team for working so hard (6-8 hours everyday) with Semi Final and Grand Finale choreographies for the past one month (after winning Seattle Regionals in April) and securing this position competing with extremely talented and strong contenders from across 13 US cities in NJ/NY (PlayStation Theater, Braodway/Time Square)! A very well deserved win! A Win both for the School and for Seattle! ❤️ It’s very humbling for the team and PCIPA to have this experience as part of our life’s journey. Accomplishments:
1) Competed for America's Got Talent in February 2015 and earned a featured article on KOMO NEWS as "Tiny Bollywood Dancers" of Seattle. 2) Won 1st place (youth category) in Seattle Semi-Finals of Naach Meri Jaan, an International Dance competition conducted in 12 different states across US and Canada. (April 2015)
3) Won 1st place in the youth category of Bollywood & Bhangra Dance competition. (May 2015) 4) Invited to perform at "DANCEthis' show, a Mega Dance show put together by prestigious Seattle Theater Group (STG). As part of the invitation, the team received an intense training in wide range of dance styles and techniques. The Rockstar Team's performance at DANCEthis show was identified and well appreciated by leading dance theater and entertainment companies like Spectrum Dance Theater and Teatro ZinZanni.
5) PCIPA collobrated with Teatro ZinZanni (One of Seattle's top attraction events) where PCIPA Rockstar Team was part of their Fall 2015 presentation, "Lighter Than Air". |

1) Won 1st place in Bollywood & Bhangra dance competition in May 2014 (Children's category) 2) Performed along with professional team of dancers in PCIPA Flagship show "Elements" with Bollywood Choreographer Mr. Sandip Soparrkar. This team stole the hearts of the audience unanimously with their full-on energy and enthusiasm and for dancing shoulder-to-shoulder with professional dancers. |
